Tuan Tran has studied and taught ikebana in the San
Francisco Bay Area for nearly two decades. His work emphasizes the natural
elements of nature in flowers, branches and rocks, often integrated with
sculpture which he creates from a variety of materials. He also is an
extraordinarily accomplished origami artist. He exhibits in numerous locales
including the San Francisco Museum of Performing Arts, Bouquets to Art at the
Fine Arts Museum, the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park, for Aratame
School exhibitions, and at Ikebana International's programs and flower shows.
He also participates in exhibitions of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana. He is a
generous volunteer for various civic events such as Project Open Hand, the
Chinese Lunar New Year and works with a group devoted to rehabilitating homes
for the needy.
Born in Viet Nam, Tuan moved to this area in 1975 at the age of
13. He majored in accounting at San Jose State University and worked in high
tech companies in the South Bay. For the past 15 years he has been a successful
real estate agent. |
